Frankincense. 100% Pure Essential Oil. 15ml. (For External Use Only; Pls. read article below)Essential Oil Safety Information [Frankincense, Myrhh, etc.]by Nick | Apr 28, 2014 We’ve noticed a disturbing trend of people asking us for ingestible essential oils, usually because they heard from somewhere that taking essential oils internally is a good idea. Not always. If you have been taking essential oils internally, or are thinking about it, please read this important article. Before we explain why taking essential oils internally can be a questionable practice at best, and fatal at worst, let’s talk about what essential oils actually are. What Are Essential Oils?Essential oils are the volatile oils that plants create and are what give individual plants their own distinctive aroma. They are also referred to as volatile oils because of their quality of quick evaporation when exposed to air. When extracted they can be used for aromatherapy, pest control, and sometimes as flavorings in food. How Are Essential Oils Made? This is very important to understand. To create just a tiny amount of essential oil, huge amounts of a plant must be gathered.Plant essential oils are extracted via a process such as steam distillation, CO2 extraction, cold pressing (citrus oils are extracted this way) or other techniques that involve solvents. The end result is an extremely concentrated amount of the volatile oils of that plant. In other words, in a half ounce of an essential oil, you could have the product of 10, 20, 50, or even 100lbs of a plant. That is a HUGE amount of plant material in a very tiny container. But I Only Put 1 Or 2 Drops In A Glass Of WaterAnother way to look at the potency of essential oils is that 1 single drop of an essential oil could be the equivalent of drinking between a gallon and a half and 6 gallons of tea made from that same plant.Does that sound like a good idea to you?Respect The Potency Of PlantsEssential oils have lots of great benefits. But we need to remember that nature creates and distributes compounds in varying degrees for a reason.Something like iron is beneficial in small amounts for the body. Trace elements like Chromium are found in our makeup in proportions similar to a tiny pinch of salt in a large bath tub.But if we were to ingest just double what our body needed of a highly absorbable form of one of these minerals, it could kill us.So, compounds that occur in nature or in our bodies in small amounts aren’t necessarily good for us in larger amounts. The components of plants are no different.Essential oils are highly potent and concentrated substances. A one ounce bottle, or even a drop, of essential oil is completely unnatural in regards to it’s occurrence in nature. Although plant essential oils are entirely natural in the plant itself, the level of concentration of pure essential oils does not occur in nature at all. When it comes to essential oils, we can enjoy their ability to help and the enjoyment they can bring when used as directed by a qualified herbalist or medical aromatherapist. However, it is vital that we respect their potential to cause harm and injury to the human body when used incorrectly or in excess. What Makes Essential Oils Unsuitable For Internal UseAs I mentioned before, their potency makes them dangerous. Consuming undiluted essential oils will make you sick eventually (or immediately), even if you can’t feel it. Depending on the oil, and how much is ingested, here are a few of the possible effects:• Toxic to your liver• Kidney distress• Mild to severe irritation of mucous membranes• Gastro-intestinal damageHere’s the insidious nature of the problem. You may not feel sick right away. The stress on your kidneys or the increasing toxicity in your liver may not be apparent until you are in big trouble. This is what is known as a subclinical condition. It is the existence of a problem that just isn’t on your radar. Yet.The Consensus Has SpokenThere is one thing that virtually all practicing herbalists, aromatherapy professionals, and medical professionals agree on: essential oils are not intended for internal use unless under the supervision of a qualified professional.Especially not in the amounts we have been hearing about. (e.g. Several drops in water to be consumed in one day, or in one sitting.)The only people we know of who generally promote the internal use of essential oils are marketing companies and their agents/sales people/members.Regarding ChildrenThe internal use of essential oils is not safe for children. If a marketer is telling you to give them to your children, I would question them to the point that they never bring it up again. If you want to explore the therapeutic value or health benefits of essential oils for your children, get the advice of a medical practitioner.Oils VaryEvery oil is different. Even oils extracted from different varieties of the same plant can have varying qualities. Some, such as lavender, can be used in food in small amounts. Others, such as Oregano, can cause blistering on the skin. Imagine what it can do to internal tissues if used incorrectly. The only way to know for sure how to use an oil safely is to work with a qualified professional.Note: being a sales rep for an essential oil company or a member of an MLM does not make someone a qualified professional. There have been numerous reports of fatalities that resulted from ingesting essential oils incorrectly. This is not conspiracy, or “the man†trying to scare us from using one of nature’s medicines – it is a fact. Since becoming alerted to the issue of people taking essential oils internally, I personally found one person who had to be admitted to the hospital for several days after using Frankincense essential oil internally as directed by a representative of a multi-level marketing company that sells essential oils. But These Oils Are Certified!Certified by who? What does that mean? Who certifies essential oils? The answers: The company who made the claim certified them. There is no certifying body for essential oils. The term is used as a marketing technique to garner trust. So it means essentially nothing. In fact, it should make you ask yourself the following question: Why is this company trying to make me feel like these oils are “certified?â€Hype and MoneyI love the world of natural medicine and believe herbalists and natural medicine practitioners should make incomes that are comparable to medical doctors and lawyers.Unfortunately, there are a lot of people coming into the store with instructions from the representatives of multi-level marketers to use essential oils in ways that are not safe. The nature of an MLM is to create a lot of excitement and emotion around something that is “amazing†or a “miracle†and get others to buy in. So even the most well meaning of people can wind up making pitches that contain information that is questionable or even harmful. It’s a quirk in human nature where emotion overrides logic. For an MLM this is the secret sauce that benefits the very few at the top. My feelings on the ethics of that are for another article. The point here is: be careful. If something sounds “too good to be true†it probably is. If you have questions about the safety of an oil, come to talk to us. We have several books that we use to help guide our guests. What Purity Really MeansOften times we hear people justifying ingesting an essential oil by saying that it is “pure.†Well that’s exactly what could make it dangerous for internal or topical use.The fact that they are pure is what requires us to dilute many of them before using them.I Already Bought All These Oils! Now What?Enjoy them. Seek out advice on how to use them correctly and safely. Talk to a truly certified aromatherapy practitioner, or come see us.There are lots of benefits to using essential oils. • Stress relief • Making your own lotions and soaps • Pest control • Making your own natural cleaners • Emotional well-being • Making your house smell awesome • Making candles • Experimenting with them to make cool blends To Be ClearAnything can be dangerous in excess or if used incorrectly. Alcohol in very tiny amounts can extract nutrients from plants and help increase absorption of those nutrients in the body. Or it can kill you if you abuse it. Chocolate can be a delightful source of anti-oxidants if you eat an ounce per day, or make you gain 100lbs if you eat a box per day.Essential oils can be uplifting, calming, and great for your skin when used properly. They can shut down your liver if used improperly. Now, moving forward, I want you to learn as much as you can about them. Ask us lots of questions and let us help you research them and get the most out of them. If we don’t have the answers you need, we’ll help you find them.If you were into the essential oils for their supposed health benefits, tell us what your goals are and we’ll help you find a safe way to get there. We’re all in the midst of a learning process and we are here to help you.-----------------http://chakra4online.com/blog/essential-oil-safety-information---------------------- FREE meet-up at Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas Center, EDSA We deliver anywhere in the Philippines for a minimal charge.
