How to germinate: germinate tomato seeds before you sow them in potting mix. Pre-sprouting helps accelerate your tomato seedling crop and it is easy. It just take a couple of days when you germinate the seeds before planting them. They have a greater chance of growing into a seedling than sowing directly. Use the paper towel method. Moisten a single paper towel, damp but not soaking wet. Sprinkle the tomato seeds on the paper towel, so they are not touching. Seeds will adhere to paper. Use only one variety of seeds. Starting at the end, roll the paper towel loosely in cylinder fashion. Place it inside a plastic bag, label it + date. Place bag in a warm place away from drafts, such as top of the refrigerator or stereo. Check the seeds each day for germination. Germinates within 10-14days. Plant your germinated seeds in seed cell trays within 12-24 hours of sprouting. Be very careful not to break the roots when planting as it will no longer be viable.
